Here goes.....

11 things about me

  1. I would love it if animals could talk, and if life was like 'The Muppets'- what could be better than going to the bank and finding a bear was serving you. Also, imagine people's wedding photos- a little family of rabbits among the guests, human, human, badger.
  2. When I was growing up, we had a breakfast bar in our kitchen but my Mum only had 2 mismatched stools, one was a tall stool which made you hunch over your breakfast, one was a really short stool that made your nose level with the breakfast bar- this was how we ate breakfast for most of our childhood.
  3. I am Welsh.
  4. There is one thing I would really love to do: rent an apartment in New York for a month and 'live' there- to see what it would be like.
  5. I have always wanted a dog- and now I have got one!
  6. I am writing a book.
  7. I make very good Welshcakes which are almost as good as my Mum's but not quite.
  8. If I ever got the chance, I would like to meet Oprah as I think she is very inspirational and several things she has said on her show have made a real difference to how I see the world and my place in it.
  9. I think 'Bringing Up Baby' is one of the funniest films ever and although I have seen it lots of times- I can always watch it again and laugh as much.
  10. For many years, I have been on a quest for the perfect planner- and this year, I found it!
  11. My favourite book when I was little was 'The Box of Delights' and I loved it so much, I covered it with wrapping paper to protect the cover!
Now for Karen's questions to me:

1. What is your ideal weekend?
It would definitely involve the following: breakfast at a lovely cafe or coffeeshop, a cinema visit, meeting friends for dinner, shopping at a big mall with money to spend and time to read lots of magazines and books.

3. What super power would you like?
Without a doubt- teleportation. Imagine being able to go ANYWHERE immediately.

Working to be happy and enjoying every moment of my life as it is. Trying to work out how I can fulfil my dream of holding a baby chimp.
5. What is your favourite animal?

6. Flats or heels?
Flats- I would love to wear heels but they make me walk like Mrs Doubtfire.
7. If you had £1000 to spend on yourself alone what would you buy?
A holiday
8. Who would you most like to meet, living or dead?
Oprah or Elvis
9. What is your favourite day of the week?

Power Cut

Last night, at about 5pm some workmen digging outside my house made all the power in my whole street go off, even the streetlights.
With the swift realisation that EVERYTHING in my house is powered by electric, and I could not even make myself a calming and restorative cup of tea, I rallied.
I dragged my duvet down to the sofa, went round the house collecting candles. A while later I was ploughing through this by candlelight:
I have heard so many excellent things about this book, so I borrowed it from the school library yesterday- I have nearly finished it- it is a great read.
When it got too dark to read, I lay on the sofa, looking out of the window at the now huge and floodlit hole in the road. There was a flashing orange light that was strangely hypnotic and I kept dozing off and being woken up again.
It was like a night in a dream.
I woke this morning with a headache, and odd lights around the house on, and the kettle had boiled itself!
That first cup of tea after my long dark night was perfect.

Springing Forward

Things to do this Spring:

  • Teach Hoggle to walk nicely on his lead
  • Finish my second crochet blanket
  • Ride a bike
  • Reorganise and tidy up front garden
  • Listen to happy springtime music that makes me smile
  • Get into the back of all those cupboards and drawers and have a 'life laundry'
  • Enjoy the sunshine, crisp air, bright flowers and longer days
Lastly- listen to this at least once a day:
